From Passion To Innovation

RoadSpy's Founder, Rick Hovsepian, had his eureka moment at Sebring during a track day in July 2023. On a particularly hot and steamy morning, Rick couldn't get his GoPro with a suction cup mount to stick to his windshield. After his 36-year experience of engineering new products, Rick realized a much better alternative was to create a custom-fit mount for his track car which could be anchored to the car itself. Since the rear view mirror base is the best spot on the vehicle to mount a camera (up high and on the vehicle centerline), Rick started designing RoadSpy's first model, the RS1 to use the mirror base's stability and unique geometry as a rock-solid mounting point for his GoPro. After several months of prototyping to achieve a totally solid mount with the GoPro-style arms in the perfect position and angle, Rick started the injection-molding tooling process for mass production using the same basic materials that luxury car brands use in their interiors. Rick has filed 5 patents so far for his unique method of cantilevered tension to gain solid mounting stability.
